I of course saved a little of my check, not 10% like I should, but a little.  I pay my most important bills first, like rent and utilities.  That’s about all my little checks will go to which is okay.  Plus, yesterday was my 5 year anniversary so I am planning something special for my husband when he comes home.  We made it 5 years together.  Some days it feels like it’s been a lot longer. Ha ha, just kidding honey.

For the Disney film Aladdin (1992), Robin Williams agreed to work for “scale,” the Screen Actors Guild minimum of $485 per day, plus a painting by Pablo Picasso.

Raiders play Miami next weekend.  They are 0-3 so hopefully the Raiders will pull together for the win.

Also, I watch Dallas because my husband is a huge fan.  I don’t even bother talking to him during the game because he totally tunes me out.  They played Chicago tonight. They won 32-10.  Not a very exciting game but at least they won.  They are 3-0 now.  Yeah Dallas!!!

The voice of Scat Cat in Disney’s 1970 animated feature “The Aristocats” was supposed to be provided by legendary jazz trumpet master Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong. The character’s look was modeled after Armstrong — the way he played his trumpet, his roly-poly physique, right down to the prominent gap between his teeth. In 1968, Louis even recorded an album that was called “Disney Songs the Satchmo Way.” Then — in 1969 — the deal suddenly fell apart. Before Disney had gotten Armstrong into the studio to record a single line of dialogue, Louis abruptly bailed out of the project. In desperation, Disney hired Scatman Crothers to provide vocals for Scat Cat. Their direction to Crothers: pretend you’re Satchmo.

(Today is my brother’s birthday. He is 20. That is not the useless information I am going to tell you, just wanted to share that.)

Food and Drink-   In 1765, the sandwich was invented by John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, who gave the food its name. The Earl used to order roast beef between pieces of toast for a snack while he was at the gaming tables, it allowed him to keep one hand free to play while he ate.

Also, for me, the best part of reading is when he reads books to me.  He doesn’t always get the words right, in fact, sometimes he just completely makes up a story.  It is great fun because he has the most vivid imagination.  I love our reading time.  My one year old hasn’t quite started to enjoy reading yet, he is more interested in turning the pages than what is actually on them.  Children are such a joy.

My husband complains that anything I save in groceries I will burn up in gas, but in all reality I can go to the town and back on one gallon (thank God my car gets GREAT gas mileage).   So it only costs me about $3 to drive there and back and I can save (literally) near a hundred dollars shopping for a month at Walmart.  Also, I rarely buy extra just because I’m saving money.  That is one of my money saving strategies.   I make a list and try very very hard to stick to it.  I know that the “extras” really add up.  Also a good tip I’m sure everyone knows is not to shop when you’re hungry because then you want to buy everything!!!

Another thing marriage has taught me (something my husband has yet to learn) is that having problems doesn’t mean we don’t have a good, strong marraige.  My husband always says, “How can you say we have a good marraige, we always have some kind of problem with each other.”  And I have been telling him (for 5 years now) that I judge the marriage by how hard we work to make it work, not by how many problems we have.  I just figure that if we are always trying hard to make it work, that means we really love each other and we want to continue being together. I think that is more important than how often we argue.
